Staff Luncheon. [Oct. 27th, 2004|10:57 am]

I'll be up at Fuel this Sunday afternoon at 5 for the express purpose of discussing magazine-type stuff (oo! I'm so proffesional-sounding!) for anyone who's interested.

You can't miss me, I'm a little fat bald man with a goatee that will probably be sitting in front of a bunch of notebooks.

Post-script: Reckless' new email is address is RECKLESS.MAGAZINE@GMAIL.COM

I'll try to send a notice out to everyone whose email address I have, but if I haven't got yours yet, send me a notice.

First Post! Yay! [Mar. 14th, 2004|01:53 pm]

[mood |accomplished]

Here's what we actually need people-wise:

1.Club Crawlers- One of our regular fetaures is going to be "commando raids" on every single night-spot in town. We'll do a full feature on everything from decor to dj. Service, respect for the customers, quality of the security and wait-staff, and the general over-view of the crowd that hangs out there. Now, we aren't limiting this to just one type of genre, so, if you haven't been anywhere but the local goth-club in the past ten years and think the Sisters of Mercy is the latest and best music, then this may not be the gig for you. What we need are people with the stamina and energy to hit at least one new place every week, and the mind-set to do a detailed review of the establishment.

2. Open-Minded Reporting-staff- One of our main features is going to be a "subculture spotlight" wherein we pick a group of local people into one or another subcultures and give them a little space to explain their lifestyle. Now, we aren't just going to focus on one or another lifestyles. We're talking everything from the BDSM scene to model train enthusiasts.Anything that provides an excuse for people to get together and actually do things socially.

3. Insane ranting- Have an opinion? Tell it to the world*! (*the world meaning whatever percentage o fthe jacksonville metropolitan area reads our rag.)We'll need *lots* of people's opinions on *lots* of subjects, so let us know, and we'll let THEM know.

We also have need of the following:

Advice columns, comics,movie/music/art show reviews, you name it.
If you want to print your stuff, let us know, and we'll take a look.

One of the over-all things behind Reckless is just having fun. We want to encourage people to get out and have a good time here in jacksonville.

SO try to stick with that theme, and we'll all get along fine. Heh.

On a more serious tip, we'll also need sales reps and distributors. Now, obviously, until we start making a profit, this will be largely a work of love. But, we aren't planning on setting up some throw-away user rag that just relies on charity to stay functioning. This is, first and foremost a business, and we intend to take care of our people first and foremost.

That all being said, now we just need the actual words to print. So who wnats to do what? For those seriously interested in assisting in the development of Reckless magazine, we've set up a community over at reckless_mag. Feel free to drop me a line to let us know if you want to be "on the staff", so to speak.
